Good Morning America-Travel Mom named Grand Haven one of the top five family beaches in United States. The other four beaches included; Hilton Head-South Carolina, Turtle Bay-Oahu Hawaii, Carlsbad-California, and St. John-Virgin Islands. Miles of soft golden sand, rolling dunes, and towering trees make the Grand Haven area one of the most prestigious waterfront communities located on Lake Michigan.

When walking along the beach, listen to the “singing sands," a unique phenomenon only to the Lake Michigan beaches. Listen for the fun sounds you can make with the sand beneath your feet.

Some of the most popular beach days run from Memorial Day to Labor Day when Lake Michigan water temperatures average 60-65 degrees. During the hottest days of July & August, water temperatures reach the 70s. Swimming in Lake Michigan is a popular activity.  Be sure to follow the flag system at the Grand Haven State Park to see if it's safe to swim, rip currents can make swimming in the Great Lakes dangerous if the rules aren't followed.

Beach vacations can also be enjoyed in April-May and September-October. The average daytime temperature in May & September can be 60-70 degrees and April-October can provide day time temperatures that average 55-65 degrees. Some of the most amazing sunsets happen during this time of year; so roll up your pant legs, take your shoes off, and grab a sweater!  Strolling along the beach has many wonderful things to offer all year long.
