Outdoor dining at one of downtown Grand Haven’s several outdoor cafes has quickly become a favorite by all who enjoy a visit to Grand Haven. While we welcome you to bring your furry family friend to downtown, the Ottawa County Health Department prohibits animals from outside dining areas. If you would like to enjoy one of the outdoor eating areas with your pet please ask to sit near the railing and keep your pet on the outside of the fence.

 Dog Walk–Tuesday June 15, 2010

"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures;
they give unconditional love.
For me they are the role model for being alive."
- Gilda Radner

The dog walk is a family event that begins at Central Park in Spring Lake and ends at Old Boys’ Brewhouse (OBBH). The canines take their family members on a walk down the bike path to OBBH for an evening of fun and frolic. Dogs are encouraged to “dress to impress” in their finest costumes for this event.
When the dogs and their humans arrive at their destination, the dogs can participate in contests such as the “Rolling Over” contest, the “Jumping” contest and the “Show and Tell What They Do Best” contest … and, of course, the “Dressed to Impress” contest. Dogs are awarded prizes donated by Old Boys’ Brewhouse and gift certificates from the Must Love Dogs store in downtown Grand Haven.

There is a donation/registration fee to participate with the proceeds going to the Harbor Humane Society. This is the kickoff event for the Spring Lake Heritage Festival and this year it will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Families and pets meet from 6:00-6:30 to register and have pictures taken, and the walk begins at 6:30PM. Water bowls are available along the path for dogs to refresh themselves during the walk.

For further information, please contact: Alice Donahue, Chair, at aadonahue@chartermi.net. To register your pet, yourself, and your family for this event, please click here and return form prior to Dog Walk event.
