Green Lodging is a term used to characterize hotels, motels, resorts and bed & breakfasts who are leaders in energy conservation, air quality and reduced water consumption and waste. Green Lodging Michigan is a joint program through Michigan's Energy Office and the Department of Environmental Quality. It is designed to promote Green Lodging throughout the state by encouraging hospitality facilities to adopt cost-saving "green" practices. It is a voluntary program that establishes environmental guidelines for the hospitality industry to conserve natural resources and prevent pollution.
